Welcome

Welcome to Bell Island.   Community spirit and an outlook as vibrant and bright as our capitol's name suggests.  Wabana, an Abenaki word meaning "place of first light."  You may not know this, but we have a plan. A blueprint and a road map if you will.  A practical plan that builds on our strengths. For us re-vitalization is about sustainability.  Our growth model looks to the business community, the bedrock of Bell Island. And we are inviting you both Bell Islanders and CFA's to join us and our business community as we look to the future.

As bright as our future looks Wabana past is captivating, replete with World War II drama and corporate intrigue.  Words cannot really explain our story. To truely understand the Bell Island Story you have to breathe the air.  You have to experience Bell Island. Whether it is strolling the trails or exploring the mines, kayaking the coastal waters and sea caves, Diving amongst the wrecks. Or simply eating Fish and Chips at a diner known as far away as Australia. Only then can you appreciate why  400,000 people took the ferry to Bells Island just last year.

This year we are celebrating.  Because 2022 is Come Home Year.   Our promise to anyone visiting, moving here, or those returning home. A friendly smile and a welcome you won't soon forget await you.

What are you waiting for?

Welcome
